I’m in this community to share a problem for which I can’t find a solution. I love books and I enjoy discovering new ones, and it takes me years to develop the discipline to finish them. When I was a kid, I loved books because they were the only thing I had, because there was no internet, and now that I’m an adult (18-21), I struggle to finish the books I start, it takes me one month to finish one book, and sometimes two. All I want is someone to help me with some tricks or plan to finish a book every week, and there are some hobbies that keep me from reading (I play valorant for 3 to 6 hours per day, I watch NBA, I study only 2 hours per day, and I spend a lot of time on reddit. if someone has went through the similar situation, I hope he/she can assist me, and feel free to comment.

My reading has tended to ebb and flow throughout the years. Some years I read a lot and others I don’t. Same with movies and music. It kind of just depends on where I’m at physically and mentally that year on top of just having different interests.

I’ve been pretty excited about some movies this year and have went to the theater a lot more than normal and I’m also moving houses so my reading has been way down this year.

As I’ve hit thirty I’ve realized that I’m pretty okay with this and I’d much rather follow my interests at the time rather than make myself read more than my brain wants to.

With that said, one thing that has helped me keep up with reading in some capacity is cutting out specific times of the day to do so. I will wake up ten minutes early to just read a couple pages, read a few pages on my lunch break, and I always read 20 minutes before bed. If I do those things I don’t worry as much about the rest of the day and also find that I tend to want to read more because I’m hooked on the story whenever I build it into my routine.
