**Unironically, I love reading books about sex.** As taboo as the topic is – it serves as a large function to understanding our culture and world. It also scratches my childish itch to relate everything to sex, ha.
So far, my sex collection has been: Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism (Ghodsee), Intercourse (Dworkin), Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again (Angel), Women, Sex, and Madness: Notes from the Edge (Fahs).
Most of these shift their focus away from the actual intercourse and instead the cultural / political implications of what we desire, and why we desire it (from a female perspective…). I enjoyed all of these books to a fair extent, but I found the stylistic writing to be a bit formal and boring, with the exception of Dworkin.
What good books do you all recommend that applies a cultural / political / gender lens to sex? While I enjoy good content, I have a strong appreciation for interesting and compelling writing.
Thanks!
