i’m looking for a christmas present for my mom—she loves apocalyptic books or post-apocalyptic books (but i’d also take dystopian recs!). typically i think she prefers a more literary writing style. any recs? she’s already read station eleven

Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice and After the Flood by Kassandra Montag
[Lucifers Hammer](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/218467) – One of the best. Asteroid slams into the Earth. Shit goes crazy.
[Seveneves](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22816087-seveneves) – Asteroid slams into the Moon. Shit goes crazy. In spaaaace!
The Road
The Book of Koli by M. R. Carey. Post-apocalypse, set in a future England where technology is venerated like religious artifacts. First in a trilogy, if she likes this one.
Same author also wrote The Girl With All the Gifts, which is also post-apocalyptic, but has zombies.
The Passage by Justin Cronin, and the 2 other books in the trilogy – The Twelve and The City of Mirrors. Fantastic books!
**Cage of Souls** by Adrian Tchaikovsky
**Roadside Picnic** by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky
The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K Jemisin
The Dog Stars by Peter Heller.
This is one of my favorite books. Heller has a wonderful way of capturing emotion and describing nature.
Zone One by Colson Whitehead is awesome. Literary take on post-apocalyptic zombies. And Whitehead is one hell of a writer.
Honorable mention to Sleepless by Charlie Huston because more people should read him.
I devoured the Silo series by Hugh Howey. Wool, Shift & Dust.
They’ve made a series “Silo” from them and I’m glad I read the books before watching!
