Suggest a well-written book with some good themes and messages but also fun. I loved reading the last Hunger Games Songbirds & snakes book and the messages/themes. I liked the host, it was well written but a lot of fun books feel superficial (couldn’t get through old teen books I liked like the divergent, uglies, etc.)

You might like We Were Liars by E. Lockhart with young-adult characters in a contemporary setting (wealthy summer homes in a place like Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket), dysfunctional and manipulative family, and some interesting themes about integrity and materialism.

    2. *Pet* by Akwaeke Emezi – not sure if I’d describe it as a *fun* book, but a very enjoyable one because of its creative and unusual concept. I don’t suppose you want me to tell you what the message is but it comes through very clearly without being simplistic.
