If anyone finished this book (I read many posts where people DNF’d), I have some questions. While the book was a bit repetitive in parts and the ending fell flat for me, there were some interesting parts, including the tech of Gyre’s suit. I read an obscure but interesting take on the fungi—someone suggested that the bioluminescent fungi spores she accidentally introduces into her suit are trying to lead her to her doom for their propagation. Now, I have been unable to find any other information on this reading of the text. Do you think that is what is really behind her descent into madness and her statements about the cave trying to kill her? Are the spores controlling her? Or, do you think she is just succumbing to stress, exhaustion and isolation (and the hallucinations are part of that)?
