I remember there were a couple of books and movies where the protagonist was some kind of guy who was involved in finding treasures or was a spy. He was living “abroad” or has travelled many different countries in the world. Most of the time he had a love affair in all those countries and in the book he met them again were they were both hurt from the way he left last time but also helping him in his quests.
It seems to have been some kind of classic theme and I wonder where it originated from and would like to find books (and movies) in this genre.
So far I was unable to find anything via Google but I remember to have seen this theme reoccur often a couple of years ago.
