Most avid readers have a favorite place to read. Bench in the park, comfy chair in front of the fire, etc. But, what is the most unusual place you have done some serious reading? Mine, among others, would have to be deployed to a Warzone. When I was sent overseas, the bottom of my duffel bag was full of the Belgariad and the Mallorean series’s by David Eddings. When I was not on patrol/posted up, you could have regularly found me curled up in some out of the way place with a book or two. Made for a great escape from the present…

Anyone else find themselves in some unique reading locations?

    1. I was cleaning out a closet, found a book on the floor, and flipped through it to see where it should go.

Four hours later the phone rang and I was still sitting on the closet floor, completely involved with the book.

‘Sabriel’ by Garth Nix. Great book.

    2. We go on labyrinth hunts here and there and my boyfriend likes to read while I walk them, so he’s read next to all sorts of labyrinths, whether it’s a hidden labyrinth in the woods, or a spectacular European cathedral labyrinth.

When we were in Korea last year we stumbled across an ancient library in one of the palaces, and had a reading break there. That was cool.

We also bring books hiking and like to have solid reading sessions at the summit, weather/bugs permitting.

    3. In my childhood room, there was a closet that had an extra bit of space in the back that was high enough that it would be completely hidden from sight by my clothes. It could also easily fit me, a book, and a beanbag chair. The only downside is that it would get very stuffy.
