It really depends on what you like! Unless you’re a Stephen King fan, maybe just get one of his books to see how you like his writing style – can’t go wrong with Misery.
Razorblade Tears is a great noir, I loved it!
You also have a bunch of classics and they couldn’t be more different from one another (Catch-22…) If you’re in the US I can guarantee that your library is going to have Mockingbird so maybe consider whether you want to spend money on something you can check out. Happy shopping!

One of my relatives was drinking buddies with Joseph Heller and named a character after him. I still could never get through ***Catch-22***, despite 2 attempts. Everyone should read ***To Kill a Mockingbird*** at least once.
