Ok, my top fiction this year (and a lot of these will forever be favorites):

\*The Song of Achilles, Author: Madeline Miller (a little twist on a historical tale)

\* Light From Uncommon Stars, Author: Ryka Aoki (ight fantasy, this is about funny aliens, donut shop, musicians that make a deal with the devil, and life of a young transperson)
\* The Starless Sea, Author: Erin Morgenstern (light fantasy, a college kid finds a book that breaks his world open and he discovers another universe)
\* Mr. Penumbras 24-Hour Bookstore, Author: Robin Sloan (entrancing, a bookstore employee discovers an exciting secret society within his magical bookstore)
\* Yellowface, Author: R.F. Kuang (funny, a female author steals the work of her best friend and then her life falls apart)
\* Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone, Author: Benjamin Stevenson (a funny and exciting murder mystery)
\* The Symphony of Secrets, Author: Brendan Slocumb (this is about a musician who discovers some major secrets with the historical musician he’s idolized his whole life)
\* Wild Seed, Author: Octavia Butler (magical realism, the two immortals and their tumultuous relationship and family)
\* Midnight Riot, Author: Ben Aaronvitch (magical realism, funny fast passed murder mystery)(starts a series of 6 books)

\* How Not to Die, Author: Michael Greger (non-fiction, fantastic book that will make you want to dive into the wonderful world of plant-based eating)
These are all good enough that I keep thinking about them and might someday reread them to catch things I missed the first time.

      Beartown by Fredrik Backman

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

      Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano

And also I re-read The Hunger Games which has always been a favorite of mine.

I still have a couple books left on my TBR list for the year (my goal is 52 and I’m 3 short) but Beartown will most likely stay my favorite read this year.
