I’m right there with you on Dark Matter. You could try some of Blake Crouch’s other books like Recursion, Wayward Pines, and Run. And you might like The Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory, and the Brilliance books by Marcus Sakey.

The author Sarah Pinsker has a similar style to Blake Crouch. My favourite book by her is We Are Satellites, which, like Dark Matter, is set in more or less the real world besides one technology.
Other sci fi authors you may like:
* Neal Stephenson. You may like Reamde, which is a thriller set in the modern-ish day.
* Andy Weir. His books are pretty popular, with The Martian being made into a movie a while ago and Project Hail Mary supposedly being made into a movie sometime in the future.
