I’m getting into reading and starting with the classics (Solaris, Time Machine, 1984). When I finish reading them, I immediately go on to google or YouTube to find some sort of analysis or discussion to help further my understanding and experience if I do a potential reread.

My results have been variable and mostly unsatisfying. Is there a go to place that nicely consolidates literary analysis and reader discussions in an easy to digest manner? Would be willing to pay for a subscription.

I usually look for contemporary reviews of books and then also look for discussions on the various literature related subs on Reddit. You can also check out the London, Paris, NY Review of books and go from there.

    2. I read comments here on Reddit, then I goto Goodreads and do more research there. Goodreads also has suggestions based on what you’ve read, but I don’t usually use them as much as I used to.

    3. I do much the same as you, OP, and I would also love to hear of the resources you’re talking about.

I like to see what’s been said on the internet about the book. Rarely do I feel a desire to immediately begin another book. This is probably because I read impactful books.

    5. Is it a series?
Do I have the next book in the series?
If yes to both, read the next book in the series
      If not, read another.

I enter it into the book log I’ve been keeping for almost 20 years (same notebook for the last 17 years), then look through the log to see what I was reading on that day each year. It’s a fun little tradition and a great way to remember what I’ve read.

Update Goodreads, and read another. I will generally watch the movie version as well.

turn it over, front and back, once again, maybe tap it once or twice, maybe go “hm”, nod my head

    9. Mark the book as finished in my app and then probably go to bed. Next day I write a review.

    10. I recently joined a book club and it’s been pretty motivating for me to have the group discussion about it afterwards 🙂

      1. Go to the bookshelves and find a nice spot to put the read book. If it’s a hardcover there might be some “damn, where did I put the dustjacket?” involved too.
      2. While I’m there I might as well decide what to read next.
      3. I don’t search for ways to validate (or invalidate?) my opinion on the book. I don’t see the point for books I’m just reading for fun and enjoyment.

I’ve started book journaling for the past almost 2 years and i love it. It gives me a chance to reflect and get my thoughts out in the book before moving on. I don’t have bookish friends so nobody i know really cares about the books i read so i go to my journal lol I’ve grown to really really love it. It’s very satisfying. I can’t draw or anything so i keep it SUPER simple. I use a bunch of cute stickers that remind me of the book and just do the title my rating and what i thought about it. Then of course i pick up another book 😅

Ummm nothing. See what I’m in the mood for next.
