Hi everyone,
I’ll be taking part in a reading event at our school in a few weeks and I’m looking for something to read aloud now 🙂
The children will be between 10 and 14 years old.
Personally, I would like something exciting or bizarre like the metamorphosis (just for children), also because Halloween is coming up and I think that’s really cool.
Could be a short story or an excerpt from a book. Doesn’t really matter.
It should last for about 10-15 minutes.
Can you think of anything?

You may want to get this teacher approved. But look into the first short story in Simon Rich’s book Spoiled Brats. From the perspective of a class pet. Funny and also horrifying. From what I remember would be appropriate for this age group though.
You might go here then filter on the tag word “horror” or “ghosts”. You’ll probably find some short stories in the results

Many of these likely will be collections of short stories.
