I’m devastated to have finished this book. Her life! Surviving and somehow having a joke or wisdom to come from it… I love a great memoir. I mean what parents actually stick their children – including their just born child – in the back of a UHaul trailer and calls it adventure?! I laughed until I cried and sometimes just cried.
Besides this book, others I adore are Revolutionary Suicide by Huey P. Newton and Infidel by Ayan Hursi Ali.
Please help me fill this void. Memoir/autobiography recs? And don’t say Becoming by Michelle Obama because I have a void after that one too, that A Promised Land just doesn’t fill!

Educated, by Tara Westover. Very similar to Glass Castle except somehow the family is even crazier and more dysfunctional.
*The Tender Land* by Kathleen Finneran. A real heartbreaker.
[*Leaving Isn’t the Hardest Thing* by Lauren Hough](https://laurenhoughauthor.com/) is similar in that it’s brilliantly written about some very challenging stories and full of both humor and powerful emotion.
