I watched the 1985 anime, then I went to read the 1996 translation of the original story.
I’m in love with the liminal pacing of events (Vignettes?) with how they feel so dreamlike, and I love how its all unified in theme through cosmology and christian symbolism (Not that I care that it’s christian, I just think the usage was really useful for the message of the story).
I fuckin weep for Giovanni and Campanella, the pair hurt my heart.
I want *more* , this concoction of symbolism, tragedy, and surrealness just resonates with me something fierce. In a way most other stories just haven’t. aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
