Hi all,
With the holiday season coming up, I (16M) am hoping to get some books for Christmas. I’ve unfortunately taken a bit of a hiatus from some of the classics that I was getting through during the summer, so I’d like to take the upcoming break to crack open something new.
I was curious if there were any books that people wished they had read as a teen. While I know that this is quite broad, I’m sure that what is touching to you will be eye-opening and touching to me as well.
In case it helps; I was quite into Dostoevsky over summer, and I quite enjoy the classics (or just any history, in general). I do appreciate a medieval/classical setting, and my favorite plots have always had something to do with politics, family, or royalty.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!

I wish I’d read more memoirs as a teenager – I’m 29 now and only just discovering them.
You might like Kingdom of Fear by Hunter S. Thompson.
I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou is a classic that I think everyone should read.
I’ve also just finished Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty, a memoir about her time as a crematory operator that looks at the death industry as a whole and how we as a society deal with grief and death.
