when i bought this book i was super excited because the concept sounded really interesting!! however i just finished it and i was quite disappointed. has anyone else felt the same about this book? i felt like it was really underdeveloped and got really confused really quickly. i would understand what was going on then i’d get really confused and by the time i figured out what was going on again, i was confused again.

Yes, omg finally someone who feels the same way. It was very disjointed and I finished it being like “I wasted 4 hours on this mess?”
I guess I can kind of see the hype but it was very disappointing. I just unhauled my copy (to a little free library) so hoping whoever picks it up likes it more than I did
It was a fascinating premise explained incredibly poorly and with, as I recall, really weird descisions made that made the premise even more complicated and frankly really boring to boot.
Couldn’t manage the slog through to the end.
The first half to 3 quarters was really interesting. The end was a jumbled mess that was made most frustrating by the fact that the reveal was completely unpredictable.
The only positive I took from this book was that it taught me never to recommend a book until I finish it.
Omg I gave this book away instantly when I finished it. Like you I was so excited to read it because it sounded interesting but it was just such a bore by the end and I pretty much had to make myself finish it because I did want to know what was going on. Would never recommend this book to anyone that’s for sure.
