Hi! I am trying to read more stories for my future debut. Not for comp titles but to just read books that are similar to it.

    Here are the critiria:

    1. upper young adult with 17-18 year old charas with crossover potential to new adult or adult
    2. strong, mature themes that DOESN’T have anything to do with sex/romance
    3. set in a lush fantasy world or kingdom
    4. under 400 pages preferred and can be standalone or read as standalone

for starters, i liked tfota by holly black, so a world building on par or even better than that would be great

    1. Adam Rapp writes quite sophisticated themes in his works for YA. Off the top of my head I think Copper Elephant fits the fantasy SciFi criteria in novel form best, but he did some GN that might fit too. Many of his plays, though not specifically YA, would fit as well. I think he’s an underrated interesting writer that dares to go places no one has gone before and could be someone to learn from.

The Daevabad Trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty straddles the YA/NA line and has very vivid, lush world-building and intriguing plots.
