I am a teen. Only now getting back into reading.**I cannot find good YA to read.**i keep wanting to read a book, but then see bad reviews in a mix of good ones and don’t end up reading it.

Bad reviews always spoil books for me and I feel like some readers are so critical of books and jump on people for saying they liked a particular book or series.**I HATE IT WHEN MIDDLE AGED WOMEN YOUTUBERS SAY THEY DIDN’T LIKE A BOOK WRITTEN FOR TEENAGERS. OF COURSE THERE NOT GONNA LIKE IT, IT WASNT MADE FOR THEM.**Anyways, **any good YA book recs?** I prefer contemporary but honestly I’m fine with anything.

    1. dont read any reviews, storygraph is like goodreads but will give you books based on mood instead of what is popular.

      what genre do you like

    2. I’m 33, but currently reading Divine Rivals and LOVING IT. It’s YA and I can deff see my younger self loving this book as well. What genres interest you? What are some hard nos in books for you?

The Hate U Give and On The Come Up- Angie Thomas
      Long Way Down- Jason Reynolds
      Radio Silence and Heartstopper-Alice Oseman
Orange- Ichigo Takano (this is a manga idk if thats your thing but its a great entry into the medium)
      The Poet X- Elizabeth Acevedo

    4. Stop reading or paying attention reviews. Taste is subjective. It doesn’t matter what age they are someone may not like a book that you will end up loving. If you’re stuck on needing a review I would suggest going to Amazon, looking up a book you’ve liked in the past and seeing what other people who have liked the book have also liked.

I stick by not worrying about other people’s reviews but since you asked for a YA recommendation I recommend the Scythe series by Neil Shusterman. I read that as a 40 year old woman and loved it. I was struck by how it was technically a YA series it asked some very important questions throughout.

I loved The Hate You Give. Anything Rita Sepetys is good and I especially loved Fountains of Silence.

    6. May not be what you want. I don’t read a ton of YA, but the ones I do read are Star Wars.
The recent High Republic stuff has been insanely good. If you don’t mind reading a few adult books(honestly they could be YA) the High Republic is hard to not recommend.

    7. I have to recommend the hunger games if you haven’t already. I enjoyed The Agatha’s and the Vanishing half for mysteries.

    8. You could try something like ‘The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue’.

It’s not YA, but I think you’ll really enjoy it.

    9. In terms of YA, I loved:

Last Night at the Telegraph Club

      It Came from the Sky

      The Sidekicks

      What Stalks Among Us

      The City Beautiful

      No Filter and Other Lies

      This Rebel Heart
