“A child called it” is what I’d read to a 2 or 3 year old

My girls absolutely loved The Pout Pout Fish at that age. Elephant and Piggie too.

Mel Fell is super cute and my 2yo loves it. We’re also big fans of Oliver Jeffers’ books. Check out What We’ll Build or Here We Are.

I love every book by **Sandra Boynton**. They are all board books with adorable artwork. The stories are creative and funny, and all written in rhyme.
Also, the earliest book I ever remember learning/loving is **Go Dog Go!** by PD Eastman. Has a similar feel to Dr Seuss books, but it’s a fantastic first reader about a bunch of crazy dogs. I distinctly remember making my mom read this over and over to me, and it’s the first book I learned to “read”, even though it was mostly just reciting the pages I had memorized. My kids loved it too (but they loved Boynton more).

My kids and I loved Pamela Allen books at that age, Alexander’s Outing in particular. They are fun for the reader as well as the audience.
