I’m newer to the reading hobby and have been trying to read all different genres. I would like to read a fantasy series next. I’m currently looking at Mistborn or the Shades of Magic series. Anyone have a recommendation between the two or something different?

Both of them are really good but I recommend starting with the Shades of Magic series if you are newer to fantasy, also I recommend the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo.
More of Brandon Sanderson is always good. The Stormlight Archive is my current favorite series, which I got into after finishing Mistborn. (Which was also phenomenal and a bit easier to read as Stormlight Archive is LONG)
He also has other other good fantasy books, tho they fall into the super heroes (Steelheart) and Sci fi genra (Skyward). Both are shorter than Stormlight Archive books as well.
I haven’t read Mistborn but I ADORED Shades of Magic.
For a tale of intricate politics and dragons, ‘A Game of Thrones’ by George R.R. Martin is my top recommendation. Martin’s ability to craft complex characters and a story where no one is ever truly safe makes it a gripping read from the first page to the last.
