I would like a book that I can relate to. About a main character that had to start over from scratch without family or friends. Someone who had nothing and achieved a lot on their own and became awesome. Would be nice if they’re also haunted by their past and have to hide their origins.
I like fantasy. Last thing I read was Worm by wildbow, a webnovel that I loved. I started the sequel and I love that the MC has PTSD like I do. My favourite novel series is Mistborn.
I dislike sex scenes even if they’re romantic. I can skip them if they’re not vital to the story.
More about me: I have PTSD due to childhood abuse and misogyny. I abandoned my entire family (they’re actively looking for me to kill me because of religion) and I started over in a new country entirely alone. I wasn’t allowed education for being a woman and now I can finally study. I’m older than other first year students and want a story that will make me excited and confident about my future. I want to root for the MC to prove themselves and succeed despite the odds.
Thank you! I hope what I’m asking for makes sense.

The Arrows of the Queen trilogy by Mercedes Lackey, though the first and second books have some consensual sex (but it’s fade-to-black and pretty unimportant). Warning for the third book, which does include >!torture and rape!<, though our protagonist >!escapes and recovers!<. The protagonist has left basically a fantasy version of flds.
Deerskin by Robin McKinley, but content warnings for >!incestuous rape!<. It’s largely about the recovery, though, and has lots of puppies. If you make it to the dark parts, don’t stop there.
All non-fiction but Unfollow by Meghan Phelps-Roper, What My Bones Knew by Stephanie Foo, and Educated by Tara Westover all fit the brief!
