For as long as I can remember books have always bored me, whether they were for school or pleasure, they are just so long. I want to get into reading for pleasure, can anyone recommend me fast paced books that keep you hooked.

    1. Out of the Earth series by Jake Bible. 4 books: Out of the Earth, Out of the Sky, Out of the Fire, & Out of the Stars

Giant monsters emerge from the earth and start the end of the world as we know it. A higher intelligence has other plans though and humanity is forced to make dire choices in order to survive, if that’s even possible?!

This series follows a variety of people, in different locations and positions of power across the country, as they all struggle through the chaos and destruction in a desperate attempt at survival. The action starts and it does not stop! Lots of cussing throughout the books… but given the circumstances the characters are in, I’d cuss a lot too🤷‍♂️

yellowface by r.f kuang! satire about the publishing industry and a very unlikeable narrator but it’s super gripping

I don’t have a recommendation, just glad to be here before someone recommends Mistborn.

    4. *The Firm* by John Grisham

      *Memory Man* by David Baldacci

*The Sundown Motel* by Simone St. James

      Edit for typo

    5. Don Winslow is always really fast paced, I would recommend to start with Death and Life of Bobby Z before checking out his masterpiece Power of the Dog.

If you like thrillers then the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo is a series of pageturners.

    7. Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles –A magic Inn, space werewolves and vampires, a lot of really unique aliens, mystery, romance, action, a fun and humorous series

Matthew Reilly Ice Station (1st in the Scarecrow series)

AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GLOBE,

Anarctica is the last unconquered continent, a murderous expanse of howling winds, blinding whiteouts and deadly crevasses. On one edge of Antarctica is Wilkes Station. Beneath Wilkes Station is the gate to hell itself…IN THE COLDEST PLACE ON EARTH, A team of U.S. divers, exploring three thousand feet beneath the ice shelf has vanished. Sending out an SOS, Wilkes draws a rapid deployment team of Marines-and someone else…THE HEAT IS ON…

First comes a horrific firefight. Then comes a plunge into a drowning pool filled with killer whales. Next comes the hard part, as a handful of survivors begin an electrifying, red-hot, non-stop battle of survival across the continent and against wave after wave of elite military assassins-who’ve all come for one thing: a secret buried deep beneath the ice…

      Leviathan James Byron Huggins

On an Icelandic Island, an illegal experiment intended to create the perfect biological weapon has transformed a once-innocent creature into the biblical Leviathan that once terrorized the world. Able to shatter steel and granite as easily as it can melt the strongest containment shields, Leviathan escapes from its pen and is loose in a vast underground chamber harboring soldiers and scientists.

The installation cannot allow Leviathan to reach the surface. For if Leviathan reaches the world, it could well be the end of the Earth. They must hold the line, here, and destroy it… even if they must detonate a last-chance nuclear failsafe built into the chamber itself. But, first, they must fight with every weapon at their disposal to discover if the beast can be killed at all.

It is a battle many will not survive.

As soldiers and scientists are vaporized by Leviathan’s hellish flame, or ripped apart by the dragon’s claws and fangs, a lone electrical engineer is forced to join the fight. And in the midst of what might well be the last battle for Mankind, Connor must find a way – any way – to save his family and kill this powerful, bloodthirsty Beast of Legend that has never been killed before.

Before it feasts upon the world.

      Hunter by James Byron Huggins

Hunter is the ultimate tracker, the world’s best. If you’re lost, Hunter can find you — whether you want him to or not. Still, Hunter is particular about the searches he takes on. So when the military men seeking his help are very secretive about the mission they’re recruiting him for, Hunter’s instincts tell him to refuse. But there is a beast loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle and it’s already charged through a secret research facility, wiping out the elite military squad that had been guarding it. And this raging superhuman monster is headed south for civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation. It’s a job that Hunter can’t turn down, but what he discovers here in the wilderness is that terror has a form, that a renegade agency has let a half-human abomination escape into the wild. This almost invulnerable creature was created through a series of outlawed genetic experiments that have left it with a hunger for human blood. And may have made it immortal.

    8. Drowning by TJ Newman!

It’s a book that straight binged without thinking at all. I barely took a pee break. Non-stop action and such a wild story!!

    9. I know they’re not *good* but I found Dan Brown’s books to be very fast paced. Da Vinci Code, Deception Point, Angels and Demons etc.

    10. Ace of Spades is a YA book, but I still could not put it down–it is the only book I’ve finished in a single day. It’s thrilling and suspenseful and horrific.

I like the Kate Daniels Series by Ilona Andrews

Guild hunter series by Nalini Singh

      Psy/Changling series by Nalini Singh
In Death series by JD Robb

If you have a hard time look for anthology collections which contain novella length stories which might help you overcome the length issue.

Audiobooks are another way to enjoy books when reading feels overwhelming. Dramatized or Full Cast audiobooks contain multiple readers and can be more entertaining for some

    12. RecipesAndDiving on

      Joyride by Jack Ketchum.

Not high literature or anything, but it’ll grab you and won’t let you go until the end. Don’t start it late at night unless you don’t have plans the next day.

I just finished foe by iain Reid in 2 days and I finished I’m thinking of ending things by him in one day! They are gripping and eerie and awesome

    14. ProllyInTheShower on

No Exit by Taylor Adams is very fast paced. It never really rests. It’s not my personal fave, but it generally well liked. Same goes for Scythe by Neil Schusterman. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and Room by Emma Donohughue are two of my favorite page turners.

    15. Under the doom by Stephen King.

It is a huge book but has a fantastic pace and so many twists and turns.
