So I want to widen my knowledge in any subject really. I just want to learn more but don’t know where to start? Any good book suggestions would be appreciated!
[The Name of the Rose](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2519) by Umberto Eco (medieval novel about murders in an Italian monastery. Fictional but I learned a lot about philosophy and history of that time)

I recently read The Ruin of All Witches by Malcolm Gaskill, about the 1651 witchhunt in Springfield, Massachusetts. I learned so much about colonial life – and it was so much more interesting than it was when I learned about it in school!— about what women in particular went through, and what give rise to witchcraft accusations.
The Deepest Map is about mapping the sea floor, but takes a wide view— the author interviews scientists and explorers, goes down in submarines, explores the history, speculates about the effects of mining the seafloor… It’s a great book if you want to learn a lot about the subject, and it was really well written.

Here are some that I have enjoyed:
[The Devil in the White City](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/259028) by Erik Larson (about the Chicago 1893 world fair)
[Behave](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31170723) by Robert Sapolsky (on the biology of humans)
[Killers of the Flower Moon](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35954609) by David Grann (on Osage Indian murders)
[The Name of the Rose](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2519) by Umberto Eco (medieval novel about murders in an Italian monastery. Fictional but I learned a lot about philosophy and history of that time)
