I’m interested in a fiction book that romance is either central or a side plot but the relationship is generally healthy even if there is some conflict within their relationship to overcome. So many books are either about toxic love or about two people meeting and eventually finally getting together and it’s getting boring to me, I think the richness and depth of evolving relationships are more interesting to me right now but they seem harder to find. Ideas like this are much more common in non-fiction, but I also have read a lot of those and am looking for more of a story to get immersed into. Thanks for any suggestions in advanced!

In D. Pahnke’s **Us: An Intimacy Innovation** the story continues even after the couple comes together. It’s in the ‘first love’ trope and starts with a ‘Will they or won’t they?’ subtext. Zero toxicity.
The plot line is shy, college-age *he* teaches popular *she* how to find ‘forever love’.
