Dr. Michael Greger and his team of researchers cover the top 15 causes of death by going through each, chapter by chapter, with what the scientific evidence has to say about their causes and mitigation tactics. All proceeds from his book are donated to charity, so it’s unlikely his team’s findings have a monetary bias.

The part that had me tearing up was the intro to the lung cancer chapter; seeing how horrible these diseases can be emphasizes the importance of prevention. The overall most surprising for me was how spices, like cinnamon and saffron, are packed with antioxidants.

Has anyone else finished [this book](https://nutritionfacts.org/book/how-not-to-die/) and what do you think? What were your favorite parts?

    1. I also love the humor that Dr. Greger sprinkles into an otherwise serious and informative book!

I have to admit, I didn’t finish it, as I was looking at certain illnesses. It was fine, I’ve taken onboard some learnings. It was well written

    3. I enjoyed it. It hasn’t made me a vegan or anything but it did make me eat healthier and be more mindful of the food I eat. It was a little repetitive but the central message wasn’t selling any miracle cure, just “fresh whole fruits and veggies are good for you, here’s a way to maybe save yourself some health issues down the road or even reverse some issues you may be having.” Simple. I got the cookbook afterward and some of the stuff in there isn’t very good but it opened up my mind a little.
