Title says almost everything. I love a good fantasy world but lately all I’ve been able to find are those cringy Fae romances where the Fairy prince captures the beautiful girl and then they go on some stupid adventure and fall in love deeply with their bodies and there’s no other substance to the plot of the book. Examples of this: A court of thorns and roses (hated it); What lies beyond the veil (okay I read this as a joke after I read a court of thorns and roses to prove I could find one that was worse, it delivered, terrible book, would not recommend to my worst enemy); I was going through goodreads and a story caught my eye and then the synopsis turned me off because it was the same as above. It’s not all Fae stories, that just seems to be the current trend. I want something like the Stormlight Archives, Book of the Ancestor, Lord of the rings, Narnia (and please don’t suggest Wheel of Time, I couldn’t get into it either). Sorry this was long, there were a lot of asides, but even the sword of truth series started getting pretty risque and I was enjoying those books because at least there was substance (stopped at the pillars of creation though).
