EDIT: MEANT TO SAY GUNDAM UNICORN NOT GUNDAM WING SORRY

Friend wants a (not too thick) book to read. Problem is he only watches anime/reads visual novels so doesn’t know what to Read. Wants something low commitment so ideally a standalone or a book that doesn’t need sequels read to enjoy.

His favorite anime are Gundam Unicorn, code geass and muv luv alternative (visual novel). I don’t watch anime much so I’m not sure what to reccomend him.

This is what he said he liked about Gundam Unicorn:

“It’s a quiet war where the main character doesn’t have allegiance to either side. It’s not a crazy all out war like you’d see in the original Gundam/Zeta etc. One side is the Earth Federation and the other side is basically just the remnants of Zeon who lost. The main character goes through a journey that spawns from his mobile suit (literally. It’s a black box that was thrown into the middle of everything allowing destiny to dictate the future of the conflict. It sends out coordinates to specific locations to retrace history to allow the pilot to decide for themself what to do with the box.) The main character is in a position where neither side wants to kill him because both sides envy the box, and he spends time with both sides throughout the journey. Throughout that journey he gets to know members of each side on a personal level and decides for himself what he wants to do with the destiny he was handed. Also the dialogue is really strong”

Any suggestions? No YA. And no Enders Game or Red Rising please. And it doesn’t have to be about mechas. I think he wants to try something other than Mechas.

    Thanks in advance.
