Hi everyone, new here. I just finished “Proof of Heaven” by Eben Alexander MD and was very very impressed. It was such a solid read and left me really thinking about a different perspective on life. I’m curious to see what time will allow after this read, the conversations and further questions it’ll lead to.
My question for you guys/ladies, do you have a book that you finished and felt satisfied/further curious about a subject?

*Captives: How Rikers Island Took New York City Hostage* by Jarrod Shanahan
This may be just because it’s local to me, but there’s so much NYC beurocratic and political history I was completely unfamiliar with. Reading this definitely left me feeling *”satisfied/further curious”.*
The Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins
Mitch Albom – Tuesdays With Morrie
The Five People you meet in Heaven
Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell.
My hyper-religious Mom recommended this book back when it was released. I read it. It made me sad. Very much like The Secret and The Alchemist.
Both Carl Sagan and Christopher Hitchens were ringing in my ears throughout:
“That which can be claimed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”
“Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.”
I’d be interested to hear what your perceived level of scientific literacy is. Are you familiar with logical fallacies? Shifting the burden of proof?
I’m only asking because I have hundreds of recommendations that will leave you lost in thought but they are nonfiction. I suspect we’re not swimming in the same pool quite yet. Do you prefer STEM or magic?
