Please no sex. Preferably supernatural or fantasy elements. Romance does not need to be the main theme.

I don’t read romance because I hate the “he’s so handsome and rich”. He’s always royalty or daddy’s rich or some crap.

But I still want a little romance!

    1. ‘The Notebook’ by Nicholas Sparks is a tale I often suggest for those who believe in the enduring power of love. This story of Noah and Allie’s lifelong romance exemplifies the idea of soulmates and shows that true love can withstand the test of time and memory.

    2. lol supernatural romance is where you need to go or historical, like jamie in outlander is described as handsome but he has massive scars and it rarely references how he looks handsome.

i like the highlander series from lyndsy sands

dark protector series might be good for you but probably not as the characters are handsome but they are warriors and have scars.

    3. Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre is described as not very good looking– “neither tall nor graceful,” his face “harsh featured and melancholy.”

Come to think of it, Jane is supposed to be quite plain as well. So two non-beautiful characters.

    4. All of these fantasy novels are riffs on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale: Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley, Uprooted by Naomi Novik, and Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier.

I really liked Nettle and Bone by Kingfisher.

It’s got a really sweet romance of sorts going on mostly in the background, but a really good world and really fun characters.
