Sugar Creek Gang is a Christian Adventure book series published between 1940-1970.
My mother bought some books from this series for my son. That caused me to inherently raise an eyebrow, simply because my mom has always been extremely hostile towards books that even suggest contradictions to Christianity. For example I was grounded when I brought home Harry Potter when I was in Elementary school. My eyebrow was also raised because she has become more overtly politicized by the evangelical community these past 4 years or so, given world events. So, for her to find something she approves of to gift to my son inherently raises questions as well.
Now that I have my own son, my religious preferences have shifted drastically away from my mother’s, but that doesn’t mean I try to actively disrespect her views. So I’m OK with my son reading these books so long as their worldview isn’t offensively antiquated.
I haven’t been able to find any reviews or discussion from outside of Christian circles.

Are there any undertones of racism, misogyny, homophobia, or anything else similar to those themes?
I’m OK with the books having a Christian aligned morality (although I would prefer it if they weren’t overt 😅). I’m OK with my son learning about different beliefs in that regard.
