Book about Ugly but complacent and paranoid main character

Hello!

New to this sub and hope I make a lot of reads next year. I am looking for Novel suggestions where the main character is unattractive, but then is okay with his/her/their appearance and are critical and suspicious /paranoid of others being nice to them. Slight deviations from this would work as well.
