I recently finished Straight Man by Richard Russo and absolutely loved it. The humour and depth were great, but for me it was the complexity and believability of Hank’s character that really made the novel shine.
Can anybody recommend something else similar? I don’t strictly mean another campus novel (although I’m not averse to that per se), more an example of this kind of character work, or this kind of humour etc.
