I keep finding first books written by uber-insiders (The Darlings by Christina Unger, Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford, The Devil Wears Prada, etc) specifically about the world of high finance/the rich–like the written version of Succession or Industry tv shows. And then that person never writes another book or writes terrible books that have nothing to do with their first shooting star masterpiece.

Undermoney is a financial thriller that is amazingly literary and well done, like Dominick Dunne or Gore Vidal wrote a John Grisham novel. It’s rich and textured and FULL of insider baseball stuff that is just so satisfying.

I immediately went to his profile on Amazon to see if he’d written more–nope, of course not, he’s a former Wall Street hedgey who wrote this book (and will likely either write a watered down version of it forever after or never write another). I’m looking for more books like this!
