something that promotes comradery and found family tropes but there’s still a realistic range of personalities and people aren’t 100% in agreement with one another or all necessarily working toward the same goal. they can give each other a hard time. Bonus if each character has a ‘specialty’ that sets them apart.

I’m recently missing the feeling of experiencing my favorite medias for the first time and trying to read more and I thought if these shows were books I might have an easier time.

    Agents of Shield

    The West Wing

    Critical Role campaign 2

anything with the Batfamily (batman and his many adopted children)

I’m aware that books like as not can’t really do the episodic nature of any of these, and that it will have much less space/time to get the job done but in a lot of books (admittedly I’ve mostly read YA) personalities can have the habit of blending? like if you take a line out of context ANY character could have said that and for me that’s frustrating because I don’t have a great capacity for imagining visuals and rely upon character traits and locations to understand what’s going on. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!

    1. The Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers. If you are looking for lots of action, this is not it, as the books are rather slow and mostly focused on character. But if you want a spaceship crew consisting of people of different species, cultures and personalities with very different world views, beliefs, habits, needs and wishes, who don’t always agree on a lot of things but would do anything for each other, I highly recommend it. Every character has an important role within the crew. There is no main character, the book focuses on each character in turn.
