Recently, I’ve been reading Happy place by Emily Henry but somehow it didn’t do well with me. So now, I am trying to choose between Babel by R.F Kuang, Love Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood, and The Secret History by Donna Tart.

The secret history has been on my reading list since last year but I’m hesitant to read it since I have seen people who did not finish the book because it was slow paced & hard to read in general. On the other hand, I’ve read good reviews with Babel which made me interested to read it since I missed reading dark academia books.

Your thoughts would surely help me decide which book to buy among the three <3

I’m not familiar with any of the books you’re considering, but I looked up the Goodreads reviews on The Secret History out of curiosity.

Yes, there are several DNF reviews on it. But that seems to be true with any book. Looks to me like there are way more four and five star reviews than haters, and even several rave reviews I saw when skimming over them. Personally, I’d give it a try. And honestly, I’ll often give a book a try even if everyone seems to hate it, depending on what they say about why they hate it. (And if they don’t say why, I’m probably even more likely to want to find out for myself.)
