Good afternoon,
I’m taking several leadership related courses for school and am finding it difficult to actually glean useful concepts from the course material. I am very interested in improving my leadership skills and learning more about what it takes to be a successful leader in situations outside the classroom. I believe supplemental readings will help get me where I want to be, and give me new ideas to work with. Please, if you have book suggestions feel free to share them. I am all ears. Thank you for your time.

The US Marine Corp regularly publishes a recommended reading list, while some of the list is combat specific there are quite a few books on leadership in general.

I have some ideas, but before I get into the more specific ones, are you in the military, or merely interested in reading about leadership ideas from military leaders? I guess better asked, what is your intent with the gleaning of useful concepts? Just better general leadership, or specifically because you’re in the military? That answer will determine which ones I suggest.
Edited to fix some grammatical errors that my phone thought it would throw in there.
