I have been wondering about this. Some people said classic books are old books that were popular. But even books from early 2000s is now 20+ years old. Yet I don’t think Harry Potter feel ‘classic’ yet as the author is still alive so it didn’t feel like we are outside of it’s time period just yet.
Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid Tale published in 1980s was mentioned as a classic by Penguin.
I am open to others opinions though.
