Hi. Im wanting to become more knowledgeable about mushrooms in general and also specifically interested in the identification of psilocybin containing mushrooms. I am considering a couple books and would appreciate any feedback about them. Recommendations of any book that is informative about fungi or plants that have medicinal value or psychoactive properties would also be appreciated.
Im thinking about buying “Mushrooms of the Upper Midwest” by Teresa Marrine and Kathy Yerich. This is because it is specific to my region and published in 2020. My current guidebook was published in the 80’s so i assume the new one will have more recent information and be more comprehensive.
Also considering Paul Stamets book, “Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World”. Probably obvious but i want this book so that i can more easily learn about and identify the active mushrooms in my environment. This book was published in 1996. Is there a better book than this for a beginner to learn about wild psilocybin mushrooms and how to identify?
