My spouse, brother, and I are just now watching The Walking Dead for the first time and we are thoroughly enjoying it. Last night, we watching “Here’s Not Here” which was a beautiful and heartbreaking episode in which we get to know Eastman, a former forensic psychiatrist, his tragedy, and his influence on Morgan. While watching this episode, I joked with my brother that “I would read a 350 page book about Morgan and Eastman’s time together. And I would cry the entire time,” so I’m just wondering if you all have any book recommendations that are like this episode? It doesn’t necessarily need to be a zombie apocalypse. I’m big on dystopian and philosophical fiction of all kinds—it’s more the relationship, survival, and philosophy of this episode that I am looking for. I am reading the comic series and am almost through Compendium One. Novel and/or graphic novel recommendations are both appreciated! Thanks, everyone!

The Dog Stars by Peter Heller, a really beautiful, sad yet hopeful post-apocalyptic tale. Also, have you watched episode 3 of The Last of Us?
