Hi everyone 🙂 I’m a big swiftie and I’ve always enjoyed Taylor’s more poetic lyrics and the poems she has made public. I’ve done some searching and people recommended poets like Mary Oliver or Sylvia Plath. However, I have a hard time understanding/enjoying their poems. I think mostly because English is not my first language. So I’m looking for poetry books that are on the easier side, preferably with some storytelling elements, since those are what i love in Taylor’s songs.

For some reference, here are some of my favorite lyrics from her

*And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? / Just between us, did the love affair maim you, too?*

*Long were the nights when my days once revolved around you / Counting my footsteps / Praying the floor won’t fall through, again*

    *Oh, I can’t*

*Stop you putting roots in my dreamland*

*My house of stone, your ivy grows*

*And now I’m covered in you*

    1. I’d recommend checking out Emily Dickinson! Taylor has some Emily Dickinson references in her lyrics (especially in evermore) and Emily’s poetry will be on the easier side for someone learning English.
