Hello, I am looking for books for my daughter. She is 7 years old but reads at a 5/6 grade reading level. She is also very sensitive so I’ve had trouble finding good books at her level that are not too scary or sad. She will read through 3-4 beginning chapter books in an evening so I’m running out of ideas.

The Nancy Drew books
My wife just finished reading The Wild Robot with my son (6) and they both really enjoyed it.
Goosebumps
My 8 year old granddaughter loves books by Mo Willems.
And Goosebumps.
Does she like horses? How about the Black Stallion (or related horses) series? I haven’t read them since I was a child, so I don’t remember if there were scary or sad parts, but I loved them. Also anything by Roald Dahl would probably work. Maybe also Bunnicula, which my kids loved, or the Ramona Quimby books? The Dark is rising series was also one of my faves, but the descriptions of dark forces may be too scary.
Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley Twins were my go tos at that age. Boxcar Children might be good.
Chronicles of Narnia series (fantasy), Anne of Green Gables series (historical fiction), any of the Rick Riordan fantasy series (Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles), books by Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Little Princess, The Secret Garden)
The Chronicles of Narnia and A Wrinkle in Time series.
Some of my favorite series as a child.
Goddess girls. There are like 30 of them.
Marguerite Henry horse books.
If she likes wordplay, *The Phantom Tollbooth*.

There’s lots of interesting looking books at the link above, but you and/or your daughter could check with the librarians at her school or at your local libraries to get more tailored recommendations by giving the names of her favorites and what she’s finding too scary or sad. Librarians LOVE to match readers with books.
Harriet the Spy
The Wishbone series
The 39 Clues series
The Far Side of the Mountain
The Little Princess
The Secret Garden
The Magic Treehouse Series
Also two series that might work or will soon:
The Fairyland Series by Catherynne M. Valente
The Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire
