hi everyone! my partner (M23) said he’d like to get more into reading, so I’m looking to gift him a book this christmas. he hasn’t read too many books other than what was required in school, but he constantly talks about hamlet and how much he loved it/its message. are there any books with similar themes, or that he might enjoy if he liked hamlet? preferably not anything modern (he really loves history)!

For starters there is “Hamlet Prince of Denmark: a Novel” by A.J. Hartley and David Hewson that re-imagines the play as a kind of trashy airport Novel while keeping the plot and the message intact. Warning: Fiercly Pro-Claudius.
Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell is about Shakespearean’s wife and family during the plague; Hanlet is named after his son Hamnet
