I just finished Shadow Puppets and am almost shocked at how quickly the series has gone downhill.

    * Ender’s Shadow: Really interesting! I enjoyed the parallel storylines and meeting new characters.
    * Shadow of the Hegemon: Started to lose interest, but still stuck around for the characters and their development.
    * Shadow Puppets: Feels like the characters have dramatically changed. It’s hard to ignore Petra being reduced to a simple-minded woman obsessed with motherhood, Bean’s dubious consent around having kids, and OSC’s blatant homophobia.

This might be the end of the road for my adventure through the Shadow series…

Yeah, I didn’t enjoy it either after really liking original Ender books. Everything that I found interesting about the first four books was missing in the spinoffs.

    2. Yeah, Card is one of those authors that at first you think you can separate from his appalling beliefs, but the more the read the more you see it in his works.

I’m with you. I thought the first was fantastic, but I remember very little about the rest of the series.

Well, I just started this series called Old Man’s War, I’m not very far in, but if you’re looking for a future-space-military sci-fi series, this is good so far.

    5. The sequels to enders game are bloody awful. I remember in one enders brother is like a kid and talks with an oil baron for fifteen minutes and brings peace to the middle east or something
