I don’t think booktokers actually read bc everything they read is just like WHAT?!? Ugh. They romanticize the worse things possible. My first Booktok book was November 9 by Colleen Hoover. They said it was “the best romance book ever.” Oh boy, how wrong I was. ML IS A CREEP, FL IS WEAK. There’s so much to say but all there is to say that it’s so bad, it’s sickening. I’ve read two more C.H. books just to give her a chance and it just made things worse. She can’t write. Her plots are so bad, they’re flat and repetitive. I’ve even read Haunting Adeline, I regret it so much. Why does no one bring up the bad parts? The part where the ML quite literally ruined the FL in the worst way possible. But oh everyone says, “it’s dark romance.” How?…I don’t get it. Every Booktok book I’ve read were just published physical Wattpad books. Why do they keep getting high ratings??? Doesn’t make sense. Don’t even get me started on the hockey series, especially “The Deal”, omg it’s terrible. And the author Lauren Asher, I can’t even get into her books either. Im sorry, I just can’t stand Booktok.

Other people like different books than you. It isn’t the end of the world.
At some point it’s on you for taking book reccs from teenagers or people catering to teenagers when you’re not a teenager. There’s so many books out there of course you won’t like the same as everyone else, the point is to listen to people with similar tastes.
Why waste your time reading books recommended by booktok? I mean, you can ask your local book shop guy for recommendations and problem solved.
Ugh I completely agree. I don’t think I’ve read anything on booktok that was worth the hype. I have this comparison in my head that some books are sitcoms. There’s not a lot to them. You can finish them kind of quickly. Entertaining but not really great. I feel like booktok is entirely made up of sitcom books.
It’s like ok that’s great, like what you like, but I can tell that most of the people that post on there about the like 12 books they read a month don’t read books that I would like.
