I’m not a big reader, and tbh this is the first book I’ve picked up in years. I’m obsessed with it though, and I love the style. I want something that lures me in, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside yet also somewhat scared deep down to turn the page. Any other horror book recs also welcome! TIA

I mean I’d probably recommend any of Stephen King’s stuff for exactly the reasons you describe above. He has a very simple writing style, but it can be ridiculously emotive. I started on his horrors and then moved sideways into more of his fantasy stuff, which I love. I actually get withdrawal symptoms after his books cos I read them too quick and am then left feeling so sad they’re finished!

A couple of my favorites of his, although I’d happily read pretty much anything he writes, are The Shining, The Green Mile, Hearts in Atlantis, The Stand, and The Dark Tower series, but that last series is a pretty big commitment for a new reader. As is The Stand actually. But so worth it!
