My boyfriend has never read a novel or a book of fiction of any kind, and has only read two non-fiction books that he can remember, a book about the history of Jeeps a most recently “Born to Run” by Christopher MacDougal.

He has recently expressed that he wants to read more, and I want to recommend a fiction book that is so engaging it’s impossible to put down and may inspire more reading.

He said he’s down for anything but I figured I’d include some of his hobbies for reference: hiking, mountain climbing, trail running, fixing things, antiques, bikepacking, and bikes in general.

Bonus if it is originally in Spanish or has a good Spanish translation.

Born to Run is my husband’s personal Bible. Not fiction but he recommends Ultra Marathon Man by Dean Karnazes.

Also Running with Sherman by MacDougal.

Fiction… maybe Motorcycles and Sweetgrass by Drew Hayden Taylor – by a Canadian Indigenous author about a stranger who rides on to the reservation on a motorcycle and starts sitting up trouble… but might be a lot more than he seems to be.

Fiction: Books by Stephen King (11.22.63, Revival, The Green Mile, The Stand, etc) or Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Micro, Timeline, etc) The Michael Crichton books are all fast paced and easy to pick up. Some of the Stephen King books like 11.22.63 and The Stand are long which can be intimidating but the reads are worth it.

Non-fiction: Road to Valour by Aili and Andres McConnon (tour de france rather than running but “The inspiring, against-the-odds story of Gino Bartali, the cyclist who made the greatest comeback in Tour de France history and secretly aided the Italian resistance during World War II”)

Edit: Sorry missed the bonus line
