So I just devised an elaborate organization plan to help me get through my TBR cause i realized i own 16 (16!) Unread books. I put a book buying ban on myself till I’ve read every single one of these books. I’ll be reading 3 at the same time no more no less, all of these 3 books will be different vibes/genres from eachother and from the group of 3’s before them. Everytime i finish a group of 3’s i get starbucks or an energy drink as a reward. Will this scheme fail? Probably, idk how efficient reading 3 different books at the time is as opposed to one. How do y’all get through big TBRS?

My tbr is hundreds of books lol
I don’t organize them. I’m a mood reader, just read what I feel like when I feel like.
I don’t. When I get a new book, it just goes in the appropriate place on my shelves. When I finish reading a book, I look at my shelves and pick out a new one.
I tend to read one book at a time, and it don’t really mind if it’s similar to the previous book I read.
The books themselves are organized in a complex series of piles, stacks, and towers, which, while they may appear completely random, are in fact completely random.
I don’t. I have probably 30 or 40 TBR. When it gets out of hand I will make rules for myself like, I can’t buy another book until I’ve read 3 books I already own. Or I will cut myself off for a month. If I only had 16 TBR I’d be in a book store now.
I have two such “lists.”
First, there is the physical pile of books I’ve already purchased. This is not organized in any particular manner. However, I try to follow a rule I’ve set for myself that I should finish all books bought in a previous year by the end of a given year. For example, any books I purchased in 2022 (or earlier), I should complete by end of 2023. While I don’t read in a first-in-first-out fashion, this still helps me get through everything I’ve bought.
Then there is the list I keep of books I’m interested in reading. This isn’t organized in any particular manner. In fact, it’s just alphabetical by author. I browse this list every so often, and if I see a book on it and I can’t remember why I was interested in it in the first place, I remove it. This list usually stays pretty huge, but it does get culled slightly from time to time. I don’t get new books from this list in any particular manner. Usually just when the mood strikes or I see a good deal.
What is the point of reading three books at a time? Why can you not just pick out three books, and when you finish all three of them, reward yourself (why is the reward necessary? Is reading not a reward in itself?).
It’s not a race to finish books or get through your TBR. My TBR is like 60 books (I don’t own them), and I’ll get through them when I get through them. When I finish a book, I just go through my list and pick out another one I’d like to read.
Reading does not need to be this complex or elaborate.
Wait….we’re suppose to organize them!? 🤣
i have a ‘read next’ list. which is no more than 10 books that are loaded on my tablet and ready to be read at a moment’s notice.
i have a general TBR list which is a bit over 600, which i check when my ‘read next’ list needs to be refilled.
and i also have a subsection in the TBR list ‘complete’ for series that are done and i don’t have to wait for sequels to.
I have too many. They’re organised roughly by fiction and non fiction though, as I tend to read one of each at a time, so it’s easy to see what’s what.
I don’t care about TBR anymore. There are way too many. So I have hundreds of books in lists that WBNTR, would be nice to read. But I know I will never read them all, so I stopped thinking about it.
