There’s a great series of (young adult modern fantasy/horrorish) books called Skullduggery Pleasant with strong/teenage female characters by Derek Landy. As well as the series of paperbacks there’s graphic novels as well. She like those , if she might enjoy that genre.

– Lumberjanes – really delightful graphic novel series about a summer camp with some strange supernatural occurrences, but more about friendship and inclusivity and bravery. Same creator as Nimona which I would also recommend but perhaps for slightly older – the Netflix film is great though and a little less dark/more younger-suitable than the graphic novel.
– The Tea Dragon Society – these are so beautiful, really gentle and sweet graphic novels about dragons – set in a fantasy world, one of the characters looks a little like a llama!
– The Sad Ghost Club – really sweet young adult series (though definitely the younger end), particularly about being anxious or insecure but about not being alone. They’re so lovely.
There are definitely more but my brain has melted today! I work in a bookshop and Christmas madness has hit!
