i just bought a little life by hanya yanagihara. i’m aware that this book is very heavy, however i was wondering how it compares to girl in pieces by kathleen glasgow. i thought that book was really good but also super sad and i would have to take breaks because i would feel so depressed. i’m a little weary of a little life because of this so i would just love some opinions from people who have read both!!

    1. I haven’t read the other book you mentioned, but for A Little Life I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings (for example on [storygraph](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/84e60d3e-b749-4b62-8aa7-169b67ba7fdc/content_warnings) or on a site [like this](https://www.booktriggerwarnings.com/A_Little_Life_by_Hanya_Yanagihara) ) and taking them very seriously. Ask yourself if you want to read a graphic description of that. And ask yourself if you’re okay with reading about good people suffering. Especially in a way that doesn’t feel like fiction but rather like you’re really glimpsing someone’s life. (That at least is what it felt like to me.)

It’s a very good book, but it can really take its toll.
