I am going to be traveling to Vietnam and Thailand next month and want to read a book about each country. Open to anything that will give me a better understanding and perspective about each country and culture!
Remembering Water by Tuan Phan is a memoir by a man who left Vietnam as a child in the 80s and returned to live there as an adult. It’s a really interesting look at homecomings and how different people remember the same things differently.
For Thailand, you could look at the author Veeraporn Nitiprapha and see if you like the sound of any of her books.

I’m more of a fiction reader but I loved ‘the beauty of humanity movement’ by Camilla Gibb. One thing I loved to do while traveling was to read a book set in the country while I was there.
